HS Field Trips
Marta will be taking her D-block biology class to OMSI on Thursday afternoon for a special presentation by renowned scientist, Dr. Richard Leakey. He will be speaking with PPS HS students regarding his life’s work in paleoanthropology, environmental conservation, his work with the Kenyan Wildlife Service, and African politics. OMSI Science Cafe from 1-3 p.m. on October 2. The entire HS will be heading to the College Fair in order to research college choices, scholarship opportunities and to learn how to best plan for further education. Oregon Convention Center from 9:30-11:45a.m. on October 3.
Absent?
If your child is going to be gone for the day, please give the school a call: 503-916-3656. Give us a call before 9am the morning of the absence with name, grade and reason for the absence. It helps us keep better track of the students. Thanks!
Time to start thinking about college
The entire high school student body will be attending this year's College Fair, held annually at the Portland Convention Center. We will attend on Friday, October 3. There'll be workshops for the students to attend, so encourage your high schooler to sign up: -Understanding the Admissions Process -Paying for College and Explaining Financial Aid -How to Search, Apply and Compete for Scholarships -Writing Essays for College Admission We will be dismissing students from the Convention Center at 2:30pm.
Antigone at Reed
The high school students will be heading to see Antigone at Reed College's Cerf Amphitheater on Wednesday, September 24 put on by the Greek Theater of Oregon.
All-School Picnic
The traditional start-0f-school picnic is this Thursday, September 18, at Washington Park. Please make sure to send along a sack lunch and a drink. The weather is slated to be perfect for a picnic!
